This half term in Science Year 2 have been learning about different animal groups.
This week we learnt about fish. We went on a fish hunt around school to see how many different types of fish we could find and name. We particularly liked the lionfish and the angel fish. We also learnt that all fish have gills and scales and that they lay soft eggs.
The children then worked collaboratively with a partner to make and label their own fish. Have a look at some of our fantastic fish. If yours isn’t here have a look on Seesaw instead.
How you can support your child at home
Identify animals that belong to each animal group – fish, birds, mammals, amphibians, reptiles. Explain how you know that they belong to that group?
What does each animal eat? Are they a carnivore, omnivore or herbivore?
