This week we will look at number 8. We can start with singing our number songs. Where is number eight in the number line? Which numbers is it in between? Is it a big or little number? How many different ways can you find to make 8 with your fingers?
Is it a big number or a little one? Which numbers does it sit between?
Go for a number eight hunt when you go out for a walk. How many different number 8’s can you find? How many different things can you find of 8? Can you find 8 pencils or pens? Can you do 8 hops? What about 8 dinosaur roars? Stomp like a dinosaur 8 times. Is there someone in your family that has the number 8 in their birthday? Maybe it’s the day, month or year they were born or perhaps it’s how old they are. Is your sister or brother 8 years old? Write and let us know please!
Write 8 with your magic finger. It’s my favourite number to write because it’s so wiggly! Start at the top but over just a bit and go around and diagonally down, go round again and diagonally up to your starting point. It’s tempting to make two circles and stick them on top of each other but the way we write the number 8 at school is that wiggly way (which is a lot Write it in the air, on your elbow, on your knee, foot, arm.
