Mental Health Awareness Week

Reception have loved visiting the forest this week. This weeks Mini Explorer session had a special focus on mindfulness and well being.

We thought about how being outside in nature made us feel. We used the words ‘calm’, ‘peaceful’ and  ‘quiet’ to describe the lovely forest.

We also used our senses of sight, smell and touch to explore the surroundings. We hugged trees and smelt flowers.

What you could do at home:

Go on your own sensory nature walk.
Can you listen to gravel under your shoes?
Maybe take your shoes off and feel the grass between your toes.

A lovely mindfulness activity is cloud spotting. Just lay down on your back and look up at the clouds (be careful not to look at the sun). What do you see?
