During these unprecedented times, it is more important than ever to focus on your own wellbeing too as well as look out for each other. As the time in lockdown increases it can become more difficult to stay upbeat and positive, please remember we are all in this together and asking for help if you are finding it a struggle can make all the difference.

The death of someone important to us can cause great distress and confusion at any time of our lives. A bereavement during childhood can feel overwhelming for children and difficult to manage, especially if it was a parent or sibling.  Please see our letter providing some ideas to aid conversations about death as well as some children’s books to help children comprehend the notion of death.

Every Mind Matters

Every Mind Matters has now released expert advice and top tips on how to look after your mental wellbeing if you need to stay at home during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. It also includes guidance if you’re feeling worried or anxious about the outbreak. 

Just Talk Herts

Every year in November, JustTalk set out on a week-long campaign trail around Hertfordshire’s schools to spread messages about the importance of talking about how we feel.

We know that 2020 has been a tough year and you may be experiencing new feelings of anxiety or frustration, which is completely natural. It’s now more important than ever that we all think about ways to cope during challenging times – and to reach out for support if we need it.

HBBS Counselling

Committed to continue to support our clients and in order to achieve this are now offering counselling sessions via telephone – they hope to be able to offer video sessions very soon. Their Family Liaison and Young Person Liaison Roles are working hard to provide support and resources to young people during this difficult time.  

Schools and Families Advice Line

The ‘Schools and Families Advice Line’ (SFAL) is a new service established to provide emotional wellbeing advice and early help to children and young people, school staff and families during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It can be really worrying when you, or someone you know is going through a difficult time. If you feel this service could help, please call our Single Point of Access (SPA) who will take your details before passing them onto our call back service.

ELSA Support

 TES Resources

Mindfulness in Schools Project

Provides daily practice of mindfulness online with drop-in sessions. Sessions take play Mondays-Fridays at 11:00am as well as Tuesday’s and Thursday’s at 7:30pm and last 20-30 minutes and are accessed via Zoom with a training team member that can guide you through a practice and channel any discussion that will follow 

Education Support Partnership

Dedicated to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of education staff.  Their support services are still available during this crisis 

The Employee Assistance Programme also continues to be available by telephone, helping you to look after yourselves and each other

Mentally Healthy Schools

Supporting school staff during these uncertain times. Within the COVID-19 toolkit is a booklet to support schools, videos to provide practical guidance and tips to schools, parents and carers about coronavirus and mental health, activities to ease anxiety that can be done at school or at home and other helpful advice, helplines and resources for adults and children.
