It’s Friday and you’ve worked so hard this half term! Give yourselves some much earned pats on the back and do the cookin’ dance! Pick your favourite games to practise the th and ng sounds and any other sounds you’d like to choose. Use this opportunity to see which sounds your child really understands. We will be going over these sounds again as this is only an introduction to Phonics. In the new half term we will be starting with different sounds (not digraphs!).
Some suggested activities:
Play ISpy with a variety of sounds. What can you think of?
Play a guessing game and describe your th or ng object for someone to guess.
Play Metal Mike with any of our sounds.
Choose some rhyming games.
Play One of these Things with our sounds. Choose rhyming words to find.
Write your name or any letters in the ice or snow.
Please look at the videos again for either inspiration or clarity. Any questions, please email. There is no right way or wrong way to recap our sounds. Don’t worry if they’re finding this challenging, they are building up their experiences (as are you) and may simply not be ready for this yet. This is an introduction to the sounds. Children are expected to have an awareness of sounds and are beginning to make connections with letters. Persevere, keep dipping in and out of the activities and remember to have fun!
Until next time, do good looking for adventures, clean your ears out for good listening and turn your noggins (brains) on for good learning.
Take care and stay safe,
The Nursery & Reception Team
