Hello Bears and Giraffes
In our learning about Leaders, we are looking this week at a religious leader.
Do you remember that when we learnt about religious symbols we talked about the five K’s in Sikhism? There are more than 20 million Sikhs in the world!
Guru Gobind Singh Ji, who was the tenth and last great leader who helped to create the religion of Sikhism .
He was a warrior who fought to protect Sikhs. Guru Gobind Singh taught Sikhs how to protect themselves. He told them they were part of a special community who look after each other.
We learnt before about the Kirpan, the sword, that reminds them that they must protect themselves and each other. Remember we talked about how they don’t attack others, only protect.
The Kara, the steel bracelet they wear, also reminds them that they are part of a special community.
Gobind Singh wrote a book for all Sikhs, called the Guru Granth Sahib Ji. It has lots of hymns and stories by him and other gurus. It describes God and helps Sikhs to understand their religion and tells them how to live good lives.
Have a look at the sheets I have sent you and see if you can fill in the pictures to go with the sentences.
Take care, hope to see you soon
