Merry Hill Infant School and Nursery was last inspected by Ofsted in 2009 and achieved ‘Outstanding’.

Ofsted Inspectors said that Merry Hill was ‘Outstanding’ in every single one of the eight areas judged:

  • Overall effectiveness of the school
  • Effectiveness of the Early Years Foundation Stage
  • Achievements and standards
  • Personal development
  • Teaching and learning
  • Curriculum and other activities
  • Care, guidance and support
  • Leadership and management

Describing the overall effectiveness of the school, Ofsted said that Merry Hill gives pupils an outstanding education. It noted that the school is strongly focused on achieving the highest possible standards in the context of a rich all-round education for every pupil and said that pupils reached such high standards because of outstanding teaching that is lively, thorough, imaginative and interesting.

Among the many areas praised, the Report said that pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is outstanding and that the pupils make outstanding progress in acquiring skills that will support them in later life.

The Inspector commented on parents’ satisfaction with Merry Hill and the excellent partnership that is cultivated between home and school.

In the academic year 2023-24, the school strives to sustain outstanding.
