Return to Our Learning Community

Year 2

The final year of Infant School, bringing with it the increased responsibilities of being ‘top of the school.’

In Year 2 (Giraffes and Bears) we plan an exciting curriculum and continue to encourage children to become enthusiastic and independent learners.  A significant focus on the teaching of basic skills in reading, writing and maths continues. In addition half termly topic work focuses around a theme, have a look at our topic maps for further information.

Opportunities in Year 2 include
• Play Leaders
• Trips – Wenzel’s Bakery, Roald Dahl Gallery
• Weekly Mini Explorers sessions
• Outdoor learning linked to curriculum subjects e.g. Maths
• Group and partner work
• Open ended activities to allow children to explore their natural curiosity
• Learning linked to the children’s interests
• Speaking and Listening opportunities
• Year 2 Leavers Show
We are proud of our children and the hard work and perseverance they show in order to reach their full potentials. We hope parents will enjoy hearing at the end of each day all about the work we have covered!
