Return to Our School

Starting School at Merry Hill

We know that starting School is a very big step – for parents and children alike!

We are delighted that you are going to be joining us and would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our Merry Hill community.

Your child is about to start a new and exciting chapter in their education and we are aware it can be an anxious time, so we endeavour to make the transition as seamless as possible for both your child as well as yourself!

Before your son/daughter starts school we ask that you complete the “Online Admissions Form” (This currently only applies to children starting Reception from September 2023.  Please ensure you have read all the information in the right-hand column before completing this form.  The deadline for completing the documents is 9am on Friday 30th June.

In addition we will require a copy of your child’s birth certificate and proof of your address, and completed home school agreement (see right hand column).

We would kindly ask that everyone completes and returns the school lunch menu by Friday 30th June.  Even if your child would like a packed lunch from home please use the tick box on the form.  Children must choose  either to have a packed lunch from home or a school meal – they cannot do both.

Please note Nursery children will only need to complete this form if you have arranged with the office for your child to have lunch.

If your child has an allergy or a special dietary requirement and you would like them to have a school meal you must first register this with our catering provider – Herts Catering.  Please visit https://hcl.co.uk/allergy-overview  before ordering school meals.

At Merry Hill we are pleased to offer a breakfast club, where children can play and enjoy a healthy, nutritious breakfast under the supervision of qualified staff.  For more information and the registration form please follow the link below.

Please do take the time to familiarise yourself with our website, particularly the Parents’ Information section which will be updated regularly with details of term dates, after school clubs, milk and where you will find lots of other useful information.

Finally, the Early Years service, in partnership with early years providers, schools and Herts for Learning, have developed a school readiness guide to support families and children who will be starting in reception class this September. It gives you helpful advice and practical tips to help the smooth transition to ‘big’ school.
