🗺️ Geography – Messy Maps
In Geography, we have been learning about maps and how places can be represented from different viewpoints. We introduced the idea of a bird’s-eye aerial view and thought about what our classroom would look like if we were looking down on it from above.
To help us understand this, we worked in groups to create our very own messy maps of the classroom. We used books, blocks and lots of other classroom resources to represent different areas and objects. The children had to think carefully about where everything belonged and work together to recreate our classroom layout.
Once our messy maps were complete, the children became map artists! Working collaboratively, each group drew their messy map from a bird’s-eye view. It was fantastic to see them discussing their ideas, making decisions together and thinking carefully about how they could show different parts of the classroom on paper.
This was a great opportunity to develop not only our geographical understanding, but also our teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills.
