This week in Nursery

We have been very busy little bees in Nursery this week! After discovering a bee hive in our forest, this sparked our interest and we have been enjoying exploring lots of bee related activities. We have been practising our fine motor skills, sharing and taking turns as well as working like a team of bumblebees!

Edward Saidi Tingtinga

This week we have learned some new facts about a special artist that came from Tanzania. We learned all about how Tingatinga used bicycle paint and ceiling tiles to create his artwork. We have been looking at examples of his work and have started to create some of our own work in the same style. Watch this space to find out more!

This week we have had a focus on trying to write all of the sounds we have been learning in phonics. We are trying really hard to ‘pinch our pen’ so that we can hold it in a tripod grip as this helps us to have good control over our writing.

How you can help at home:

  • Practise saying the sounds we have taught so far – you might want to say them in front of a mirror so that you can really focus on your mouth shapes as you say them
  • Try giving your child instructions using sounds e.g. put your coat on the p-e-g.
  • Go on a mini beast hunt
  • Practise  throwing and catching skills
