This week we have been looking at different benchmarks on a number line. We found 0, 5, 10, 15 and 20!
We then practised placing the benchmarks on an empty number line. This was very tricky but we knew that 5 is between 1 and 10 and 15 is between 10 and 20.
After this we had to try and work out where different numbers are on a number line without counting in 1’s. We know that the number 4 is between 0 and 5 and it is 1 less than 5.

How to help at home:
- Get a strip of paper, fold it in half and then in half again. Now you have 4 benchmarks. Can you label them?
- Practise counting in 5’s.
