Identifying Plants In Our Playground

This term in science we have been learning all about wild plants, garden plants and trees in the UK.

We have been learning to identify and name a variety of common wild and garden plants and telling the difference between deciduous and evergreen trees.

We put on our welly boots and decided to explore what plants are in our playground. Lots of us quickly identified daisies, buttercups and dandelions! We identified some of the trees we have at Merry Hill School by looking at their leaves including Larch, Birch and Holly Trees. We decided working  scientifically is about observing and recording our findings. Lion and Panther class had lots of fun exploring and observing nature first-hand.

It was great to be outdoors in the sunshine!

How to help at home:

What plants can you identify in your garden or local park? Are these plants garden plants or wild plants?
