In English we have been learning all about traditional tales. We began by unpicking what a traditional tale is and reminded ourselves of the familiar stories known us all. Some of our favorites included little red riding hood, the three little pigs and the gingerbread man.
Year 1 focused on the traditional tale- Jack and the beanstalk. We have been moving like Jack in our Jack and the Beanstalk yoga sessions.
We used talk for writing strategies and Pie Corbett actions to retell the story. We really enjoyed performing these to each other!
Now we are taking on the challenge of creating our own traditional tales. Using the same structure of Jack and the beanstalk, both Lion and Panther class have been busy adapting and planning their own version of the traditional tale. Here are a few examples:
We are very excited to begin writing our own traditional tales next week. Focusing on story language, adjectives and conjunctions.
How to help at home:
Perform your adapted story to a friend or family member. Remember your story language and Pie Corbett actions.
