Our History Trip to Reveley Lodge

Year one would like to wish you all a happy new year! We have come back to school ready to go and ready to learn after a wonderful break.

Lion Class and Panther Class visited Reveley Lodge House and Museum this week. The children will be using this shared experience to write a recount of the trip, in English, using their own words. We can’t wait to share these with you when they are done.

Previously we have learnt about Victorian Toys and the materials they were made from.  At Reveley Lodge we extended this to learn other things about what it was like to live in the times of Queen Victoria. What were the lives of children like in the Victorian era? We did laundry, we went to a Victorian lesson and even met the rather strict school inspector! Some of us ended up being punished (with much giggling)!

We have been comparing modern times and the olden days. The children are all very happy that Victoria Sponge Cake is still eaten in modern times and had a lovely slice back at school in the afternoon.

Thank you to all our parent helpers and once again to the incredible Reveley Lodge team.

How you can help at home:

Talk more about the reign of Queen Victoria and how it was different to the reign of Queen Elizabeth the 2nd, or King Charles 3rd who is our king now? What was the same and what was different?
