Today we all came together to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III.
We explored his family tree and learnt about the history of the royal family which also links to our current History topic (we have been learning about the Victorian and Edwardian eras). We have been exploring similarities and differences between the different eras.
First we had a royal parade in the hall with the whole school. This was a chance to show off our recycled home-made crowns!
We enjoyed an afternoon of making. Miss Finch made king’s guards with the children out of recycled cardboard tubes and fabrics. Miss Bates did coin rubbings to discuss the change of ruler on future coins and designed a crown fit for the king!
How you can help at home:
Research King Charles’ family tree.
Research the dates of different periods e.g When did Queen Victoria become queen and start the Victorian period? When did she die and the next period start?
