We recently made a discovery buried in our playground… a turnip!
We are excited to be learning about the traditional tale, The Enormous Turnip. After our discovery, we got straight to work describing the turnip and used a number of adjectives.
Then we acted out the middle of the story. We went outside and played tug of war, pulling just like the farmer, trying to get the enormous turnip out of the ground. Whilst we pulled we discussed different verbs to describe what we were doing. We came up with tugged, yanked, heaved and many more!
We look forward to changing the traditional tale in the upcoming weeks.
How you can help at home:
- Discuss what other vegetables grow underground. This activity will give you some ideas for next week’s activity.
- Re-tell the story of ‘The Enormous Turnip’ to a family member. Add actions as you go.
