We are living in a material world….

This week year one have been revisiting the learning we have done on materials!

In the Autumn we learnt about plastic, rubber, glass, wood and metal. In December we had a class challenge to choose the best material to make a marble run for Buddy the Elf at Christmas. We chose materials which we thought would be strong and stable.

This term we have been identifying materials with two new scientific words: opaque and transparent!

We looked for transparent items in our classroom which we could see through and opaque items which we could not look through.

Here we are with the items we hunted down! Have you seen our posts on Seesaw?

How you can help at home:

Do a material hunt around your house and discuss the reason why some of the items are transparent. What are they being used for? Why do they need to be see through?
