Today we celebrated world book day in our community. We joined Ashfield school in wearing our pyjamas and comfy clothes which we like to read in.
We completed several activities throughout the day such as, secret reader, storytime and holding a book swap. We know that we don’t judge a book by its cover so we used simple wrapping paper and wrote what the book was about on the front. Some people even wrote the first two sentences of the book to tease the reader into picking them!
How you can help at home:
Encourage reading for pleasure by reading in different places to make reading exciting.
Try an audiobook with your child! This is a fantastic way to hear your favourite books being brought to life, such as the Dramatised Winnie the Pooh read by Stephen Fry and Judi Dench.
Visit your local library with your child and enjoy browsing and selecting some books together.
